Abstract: Lower Paleogene sediments are present in some areas of the eastern Aurunci Mts. These sediments are very thin and are transgressive over the upper Cretaceous carbonates. They are overlaid (once more in transgression) by the lower­middle Miocene Calcari a briozoi e litotamni. At the bound­ary between the Cretaceous limestones and the Paleogene sedi­ments a paleosoil with variable thickness is present; the bedrock may or may not be affected by infiltration and "Microcodium blankets".
