Abstract: In northeastern Abruzzo slope movements such as Slope Deep Gravitational Deformation, rotational and translational slide and flows are widespread. In the study area, within the Vomano and Fino-Saline watersheds, terrigenous deposits ascribed to the Miocene and Lower Pliocene foretrough outcrop in the western side, while in the eastern one Plio-Pleistocene marine sediments ascribed to a satellite basin are present. Among the factors which affect the observed differences in landslide mechanisms, the most influencing appear to be the different morphologic evolution underwent by distinct zones within the study area and the lithological and structural characters of the outcropping deposits.
