Abstract: Tue central-eastem Apennine thrust belt was individuated by the space-time migration of the foreland - foredeep - chain system, where the foreland areas were progressively involved in the foredeep domain from the Tortonian to the Lower Pliocene time. However, even during the period between the Upper Cretaceous and the Upper Miocene, when this part of the Apennine was in the foreland domain, an evident and continuous sinsedimentary tectonics can be observed. The sedimentary environments and the paleogeography were strictly controlled by an intense synsedimentary tectonics, which mainly utilized the previous structural elements already formed during the Jurassic extensional tectonic phases.
