Abstract: The Jurassic-Eocene crustal thinnig processes affecting the Afro-Adriatic paleomargin are recorded, in the UmbriaMarche Province, by facies differentiation in the Jurassic-Early Cretaceous sedimentary succession and by lateral thickness variations in the Cretaceous-Eocene lithotypes. Such variations are the result of a synsedimentary, roughly continuous, pre-Oligocene extensional tectonic activity which is testified by the development of regional structures trending NNW-SSE and NE-SW and by minor features with the same orientations. The acquisition and the analysis ofthe stratigraphic and structural data presented in this study allowed us to correlate subsidence processes and tectonic events deriving useful indications about the pre-Miocene tectonic and sedimentary evolution ofUmbria-Marche segment ofthe Northem Apennines.
