LA STRUTTURA DEL SETTORE CALABRO-LUCANO E SUO SIGNIFICATO NEL QUADRO DELL'EVOLUZIONE TETTONICA DEL SISTEMA A THRUST SUDAPPENNINICO

Geologica! and structural analyses carried out in the southem apennines thrust system ( in the calabro-lucano sec­tor) allowed us to work out two geologica! profiles (Fig. 1) and a 2D structural model of the area (Fig. 2). Based on this set of data, a cartoon (Fig. 3) showing the inferred tectonic evolution of this sector of the afro-adriatic margin, is also presented. The structuring of the southem Apennines is thought to have occurred through two main evolutionary stages which are related to first-order kinematic processes operating in the Mediterranean since the Early Miocene.
