Abstract

The deformation of the western sector of the Southern Calcareous Alps (Orobie sector) is currently considered either as started only since late Oligocene onward (RoEDER, 1989, 1990), or as a multi-phase belt, whose deformation started since late Cretaceous, and sequentially migrated with time toward the southern foreland in a piggy-back style. In both assumptions the youngest belt is represented by the Giudicarie and Milano Belt buried under the Po plain Pedealpine Homocline Plio-Quaternary in age. [...]
