SCHEMA GEOLOGICO DELLE DORSALI DI MONTEFIORE CONCA-MONTE COLBORDOLO, DI GINESTRETO E DI GABICCE-PESARO

Abstract

A detailed geologica! survey, carrierd out at a scale of 1:10.000, allowed to characterize stratigraphy and structur­al setting of an area of about 200 kmq, located between the Emilia Romagna and the Marche regions. The aim of this paper is to illustrate the geologica! map and sections of the analyzed zone. Here, we describe the Mio-Pliocene outcrop­ping formations with particular emphasis to the variations of lithofacies and thickness, both across and along the main tectonic structures. The structural framework of the area is schematically represented by three NW-SE trending Miocene ridges: the Montefiore Conca-Monte Colbordolo ridge, the Ginestreto ridge and the Gabicce-Pesaro ridge. These ridges are mainly characterized by the presence of severa! NE ver­gent thrusts, and SW vergent back thrusts, often associated with asymmetric and overturned folds. The principal struc­tures are often offset by NE trending tear faults, both dex­tral and sinistrai, which also define domains characterized by different shortening values.
