Abstract: The external Marche-Abruzzi sector of the Centrai Apen­nine thrust system is characterized by the presents of four tectonostratigraphic units emplaced one upon the other with northeastern vergence: the Mts. Sibillini, Mt. Giano-Mt. Gab­bia, Gran Sasso and Laga units. These units consist of Triassic-Miocene carbonatic suc­cession belonging to neritic (Mt. Giano-ML Gabbia unit), bacinal (Mts. Sibillini and Laga units), and transitional (Gran Sasso unit) domains, and of foredeep and satellite basin Miocene-Pliocene siliciclastic torbiditic deposits. [...]
