DEFORMAZIONI SIN E POST SOVRASCORRIMENTI NEI MONTI DEL'UCCELLINA (TOSCANA MERIDIONALE)

Abstract

The fondamenta! setting of the Monti dell'Uccellina area is made up by the superposition of some tectonic units be­longing to the original internal margin of the italo-dinaric plate, overthrusted by some more internal units (Canetolo Unit). A poliphase tectonic history, characterized by two main tectonic events has been pointed out by geologica! and struc­tural studies. While D 1 phase is responsible of the main over­thrusting of tectonic units and of their successive rethrusting with a tectonic transport from W to E, D2 phase can be relat­ed to the most evident cartographic structures, as the large antiform affecting the central southern part of the area, with minor structures related. Aim of this note has been a revision of cartographic and structural data, especially regarding the macro and micros­tructural characterization of the different tectonic phases to understand the geometrica! setting and the structural evolu­tion of the area.
