Abstract: Palaeoseismological investigations provide an irreplaceable tool for understanding the nature and leve! of the ongoing tectonic activity. This paper describes the data collected from trenching exploration of tectonic structures active in the Late Pleistocene - Holocene, located in three intermontane Quaternary depressions in central Italy (Fucino, Rivisondoli and Rieti basins). The palaeoseismic and kinematic analysis of these structures suggests relevant implications for defining a structural model of the Central Apennines coherent with the seismic history of the area.
