SEGNALAZIONE DI LIVELLI VULCANOCLASTICI NEL PESCARESE

Abstract

In a wide area of Eastern Abruzzo, between the Tavo and Pescara rivers, volcanoclastic levels outcrop. They con­sists of ash and sand size volcanic materia!, with small pumices horizons inside, and are over or interbedded paleosoils that overlie terraced alluvial deposits. Preliminary diffractometri­cal analysis point out that most of them have the same mine­ralogica! composition, characterized by feldspars, pyroxenes and micas. Only one sample shows a different composition. Basing on geomorphological considerations, the age of these materia! can be referred to the Middle Pleistocene.
