TOMOGRAFIA SISMICA IN AREE VULCANICHE

Abstract

Seismic tomography represents an originai method to ob­tain detailed velocity images beneath volcanoes. Velocity anomalies are generally related to specific features like mag­ma chambers, intrusive bodies, fluids located at various depth in the crust and in the upper mantle. The aim of this work is to present a generai outline of the method and some results obtained with different tech­niques in Quaternary volcanic areas of California and Latium.
