Abstract: Three tectonostratigraphic units have been recognized in the Mts. Reatini-Aterno valley area: Mts. Reatini Unit be­longing to the Umbria-Sabina paleogeographic domain and Mt. Giano - Mt. Gabbia Unit and Upper Aterno Valley Unit, the latter two both belonging to the Lazio-Abruzzi domain. The main stratigraphic features are briefly described in ard­er to discuss the complex paleogeography of this sector of the central Apennines. In this context, the role fo Jurassic - Cretaceous tectonics, which has partly controlled the fol­lowing Neogene evolution, is emphasized. [...]
