Abstract: We compare the main sedimentary and volcano-tectonic events that controlled the evolution of the Latian coastal area, from the Middle-Upper Pliocene. The analyses of the stratigraphic sequences correlated via Oxigen isotopie stages dating (for the sedimentary sequences) and radiometric dating (for volcanic sequences), suggest that contemporaneous regional events are due to the same cause. W e than, discuss the hypothesis that Plio-Quaternary glacio-eustatic cycles of sea level, change important elements in controlling extensive tectonism and due volcanic activity, because of changes in the hydrostatic pressure on the magma bodies.
