Abstract: A complex synsedimentary tectonics, develip from Tortonian up to Lower Pliocene, has strongly conditioned the sea botton mor­phology and its depositional environments. his portion of the Laga Basin is characterized by ridges and depressions with Apennine trend, •disrnembered by transversal faults, among which the Fiastrone River-Fiastrella Stream Line is the most important. Such structures were set up during Lower and Middle Miocene when the Montefortino and Acquasanta ridges were formed; the Bisciaro and Marne con cerrogna formations on these ddges are characterized by small thickness and non detrital lithofacies. Aboundant calcareous detrital supply fed by the active edge of the Latium-Abruzzi Platform was contemporaneously deposited in the depressions. Such supply disappears both in the northern part of the examined area and above the ridges. [...]
