This paper describes the results of hydrochemical studies· of groundwater existent in the Aspio river unconfined acquifer. This acquifer is divided in two parts, each with different chemical characters. In The upper part of the acquifer we have waters without dominant ions and deriving from direct infiltration of meteorie waters. The lower part is characterised by clorine-sodium waters deriving from the rise of salt waters present in lower Pliocene. The salt waters rise, probably, througt the NW-SE and NE-SW faults present in the examined area. The upper and lower part of the acquifer are separeted by an interface representing the «substratum» of «fresh» water existing in the unconfined acquifer of the Aspio river.en_US
