ARCHITETTURA PRE-OROGENICA DELLA PIATTAFORMA CARBONATI CA APPENNINICA NELL'ALTA VAL D' AGRI (LUCANIA, ITALIA MERIDIONALE)

Abstract

In this paper we present the results of geo-structural and bio­stratigraphic analyses carried out in the Mesozoic platform carbona­tes cropping out in the high Agri Valley (Lucania, Southem Apennines). The results of our work allowed us to (i) produce a geo­logica! map of the study area and to define geometry and type of the main tectonic contacts among rocks of the Apenninic Platform units and those belonging to the Lagonegro Basin units, (ii) reconstruct the stratigraphic succession of the shallow-water carbonates of the Apenninic Platform and propose an up to date interpretation of the depositional environments characterizing the Mesozoic carbonate sedirnentation in the study area.
