Abstract: The middle Salto River Valley is a key area to understand the geologica! evolution of Centrai Italy. The study area lies near the convergence zone between the pelagic Umbrian-MarcheanSabine domain and the neritic Latium-Abruzzi domain, where a Middle Lias master fault formed and along which the AnconaAnzio line developed. Two main structural elements, the OlevanoAntrodoco line and the Fiamignano-Micciani fault, divide the area into three sectors, each with its own evolutionary trend and structural style.
