Abstract: We report the first record of Mammuthus meridionalis from Marche. The mammoth is represented by an upper third molar retrieved from Pleistocene shallow-marine deposits expo­sed at San Salvatore, in the municipality of Ripatransone (Ascoli Piceno). The sediments that yielded the fossil belong to the upper part of the Marchean Quaternary marine sequence (Qm), here tentatively referred to the end of the Emilian substage (Early Pleistocene). [...]
