Abstract: Authors report on the results of detailed geologica! survey of the south-eastern portion of sheet No. 187 « Melfi», where outcrop oligo-miocenic formations in flysch facies, and Pleistocene and Calabrian marine deposits. In the flysch-facies formations several lithostratigraphie units have been recognized; sedimentary relations, with grn­dual changes both in a vertical and horizontal direction, exist among these units.
